DEMECAN, based in Berlin, was founded in 2017 with the mission of guaranteeing patients access to medical cannabis of the highest pharmaceutical quality. The company’s operations cover the entire production chain, from cultivation through processing and storage to distribution in pharmacies. In 2019, DEMECAN became one of three companies - and the only German company - to receive a license from the German government to cultivate medical cannabis in the country, granting it three of thirteen lots available for production. This will allow DEMECAN to grow 600 kilograms of cannabis a year for a total of four years, with the first German-grown cultivation set to take place in 2021. In the interim, it has been importing cannabis from the Netherlands and Australia.
DEMECAN currently sells only imported products with its own lines set to launch in 2021. It currently receives imports from Bedrocan and Little Green Pharma.
DEMECAN is certified for import and wholesale of medical cannabis in Germany. It was approved for cultivation in the country in 2019, though the first harvest has yet to take place.
